Maha Kumbh 2025: The Hindu Pride of Bharat Cultural Heritage!

The world’s largest gathering to take a dip in the confluence of holy rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers in Prayag Raj is coming again in 2025.

After 12 years, the 45-day Maha Kumbh Mela is coming back on Jan 13, 2025, with that being observed across four cultural centers of Bharat namely, Prayag Raj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik.

Prayag Raj – Confluence of Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati i.e., ‘Triveni Sangham’

Haridwar – Ganges River

Ujjain – Shipra River

Nashik – Godavari River

Renowned as the popular UNESCO Heritage Event, the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is expected to see a foot fall of more than 400 million people including Hindu devotees, saints, Aghoris, Naga Sadhus, etc coming to to take dip in the holy waters.

Kumbh Mela happens in different time periods. Poorna Kumbh Mela or Maha Kumbh Mela is observed once in 12 years, while the Ardha Kumbh Mela happens once in 6 years and normal Kumbh Mela once in 4 years.

Here are some important dates associated with the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 or Poorna Kumbh Mela 2025:

13th Jan 2025 – Poush Poornima

14th Jan 2025 – Makara Sankranthi

29th Jan 2025 – Mouni Amavasya

3rd Feb 2025 – Basant Panchami

4th Feb 2025 – Achla Saptami

12th Feb 2025 – Maghi Poornima

26th Feb 2025 – Maha Shivratri

The Government of India is reportedly spending close to Rs. 6500 crore for conducting this Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 event and is expected to spend another Rs. 10,000 crore for the same.

Part of arrangements, the Government is making plans to ensure pilgrims coming to take dip in holy waters will be able to enter the waters in not more than 1km distance from any side around.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has issued directions to build two world’s largest kitchens, each measuring around 2200 sq.mts running round the clock throughout the 45-day Maha Kumbh Mela period. These kitchens aim to serve free food to crores of people (around 5 crore per day) during the grand event.

A total of 3 tent cities are being set up in around 3000 acres area to accommodate the visiting pilgrims.

Around 59 floating bridges are being planned to ensure easy movement between rivers
