Ahobilam is situated in the Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh State, South India. The Ahobilam temple is located in the Nallamala Range of Kurnool district in a town called Allagadda.
Ahobilam’s history dates back to Kruta Yuga, the Yuga that had the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Nrusimha. This is the place, where the most-powerful Lord Nrusimha Swamy was said to have emerged out, ‘as a half man (Nara)-half lion(Simha)’, from a pillar to kill the demon-king Hiranyakasapa, as a saviour of Bhakta Prahlada, the demon’s son, but the devotee of the Lord. In fact, the entire Ahobilam was the kingdom of Hiranyakasapa.

Termed as Nava Narahasimha Kshetra, the place houses nine forms of Lord Nrusimha, spread across the two divisions of the hill as Lower Ahobilam and Upper Ahobilam. Situated in deep Nallamala Forest range, the visit to all the nine temples, especially the Upper Ahobilam will be of great significance amid nature beauty and trekky journey.
